county was formed in 1836. Situated in the north central portion of
Mississippi, Lafayette County is noted for its small town appeal. Home
to the University of Mississippi and Pulitzer Prize Winner William
Faulkner, it is a county rich in history and culture. Diverse medical
facilities, excellent educational opportunities and expanding economic
development also attribute to our growth as well as our national
recognition as one of America's prime retirement communities.
